In HAMK’s Glass and Ceramics studios, the transformation begins in the rawest possible state: shards, sand, blocks of clay. With this editorial, we wanted to highlight the origin of things: the textures, the fragments, and the materials that carry the potential for form and function.

Photographed by students in one of HAMK’s studio spaces, these works capture both the honesty of process and the sensitivity of design. From fused glass compositions built from broken fragments to ceramics shaped from raw clay blocks, the editorial reveals the conversation between hand and material.
